Sound wavelengths have specific frequency and velocity
that can be controlled to exert therapeutic effects.
Therapeutic ultrasound works via a Reverse Piezoelectric Effect,
which is the contraction or expansion of a crystal in response
to voltage across its face. Effects can be heating or non-heating
Examples of Indications for Ultrasound:
Muscle spasm
Trigger Points
Adhesions / Contractures / Scars
Wound healing
Contusions (non-acute)
Bursitis / Tendonitis
Decubitus Ulcers
Calcified tendons
Joint swelling
Chronic synovitis
Warts
Fracture healing
Capsulitis
Ligament sprains
Muscle strains
Connective tissue lesions
Pain modulation
Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation
The use of an electrical current to simulate muscle tissues underlying the area of application to facilitate a muscle contraction of a particular muscle or muscle group.
Examples of Indications for
Neuromuscular
Electrical Stimulation:
Improper muscle firing sequences
Protective muscle spasm
Muscle disuse atrophy
Circulatory disorders
Tendon healing and Fracture healing
Pain
Joint effusion
Neurological atrophy
Dermal ulcers
To facilitate normal contraction
of a muscle post injury or disease
LASER
Light Aplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation
Laser is the use of light energy to affect
underlying tissues.
It can influence lymph, circulation, nervous system and wound
/ surgery healing.
It can also be useful in the stimulation of acupuncture or trigger
points.
Low level laser therapy (LLLT) is an athermic modality
Examples of Indications for Laser:
Arthritic disorders
Neuralgia
Tendonitis, Bursitis, Fasciitis, Capsulitis
Wounds (open / post surgical)
Tendon / Ligament injuries
Gross edema
Pain
Contractures / Scar tissue
Muscle spasm
To increase circulation
Haematomas
Superficial skin lesions including warts, eczema & psoriasis
To create a magnetic field, a current must flow through a conductor of some type, such as wire. When current flows through a wire a magnetic field is induced at right angles to the wire. Then when multiple wires are placed together, the magnetic field from each of the wires are added to each other.
Examples of Indications for Magnetic Field Therapy:
Bone Healing
Infection
Inflammation
Pain
Muscle Spasm
Poor Circulation
Multiple Sclerosis
Parkinsons
Disorders of the neurological system
Rheumatology
Post-trauma
Coronary or Circulatory diseases
Post-operative
Burns & Wounds
Musculoskeletal degenerative diseases
Healthy or end stage rehabilitation patients can be further conditioned by means of individualized exercise programs to enhance fine motor control, general strength, endurance, and advanced proprioception using a wide range of indoor and outdoor tools and exercise equipment all year around.
